Impact after Diwali: Declaration of health emergency in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: A public health emergency has been declared in the Delhi-NCR region and all construction activities have been banned till 5th November 2019, Highest Judicial Court mandated panel of Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority ordered.

As pollution level in the region entered the “severe plus” category, During the winter season, the Environment Pollution Control Authority also banned the bursting of crackers on 1st November.


On 31st of October night the air quality in Delhi-NCR deteriorated more and is now at the severe plus level, Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) chairperson Mr. Bhure Lal said in a letter to the chief secretaries of States Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.

He also said that in the letter “We have to take this as a public health emergency as air pollution will have adverse health impact on all, particularly our children.
