HYDERABAD: At per report 20 people were injured, when an MMTS train hit an Intercity Express train in Telangana’s Kachiguda station on 11-11-19 morning here. According to an official of the South Central Railway, the accident took place when Lingampalli-Falaknuma Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) local train hit the Kurnool-Handri Intercity Express, which was halted on the same track at Telangana’s Kachiguda station waiting for the signal. With the impact of the collision, three bogies of the MMTS train derailed and about 25plus passengers were injured in the accident
The MMTS engine cabin was crushed in the impact ,while the Intercity train driver who was seriously injured was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials and Government Railway Police with the help of gas cutters are trying to rescue Sekhar, the driver of the MMTS who was trapped in the engine of the MMTS train. He was given water and oxygen supply to keep him resuscitated.
However, a South Central Railway official said the severity of the crash was slight because both trains were moving slowly and were within the limits of the station. The injured were immediately shifted to Kachi Gowda Hospital.
Minister Talismani Srinivas Yadav arrived at the scene of the accident and inquired about the accident and rescue operations.
All trains running on this route were suspended till evening hours. Railway officials are investigating whether it was a human error or a signal failure due to the accident.
