LATEHAR: Four policemen have been killed in a Naxal attack near a village in Lithar district.
On Friday night, armed Maoists opened fire on a patrol van near Loketand village under Chandwa police station, killing four policemen, including Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), police said Saturday.
A police officer said that the deceased were identified as ASI Sukra Oraon and Home Guard’s jawans Sikander Singh, Jamuna Prasad and Sambhu Prasad..
Another jawan, who was part of the patrol party, survived the attack when he went to attend a nature call, he said.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das condemned the attack and expressed grief over the death of four policemen.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
